AUTOMOBILE MUSEUM

Since the very beginning of automobile, the Princes d’ARENBERG have been fervent car lovers and collectors.

Prince August (1837-1924), fond of sciences and technical progress, could not resist and purchased his first prestigious car in 1891: a PANHAR ET LEVASSOR.

He shared his passion with his son, Prince Pierre d’ARENBERG (1871-1919) who was to be the Founder Chairman of the Automobile Club du Centre in 1905. The previous year, he took his young bride out of their wedding celebration on board an ELECTRIC car!!!

In 1997, for the celebration of his wedding in Bourges, Prince Pierre’s grand-son sent him a veiled reference when driving his spouse Sylvia de Castellane out of the wedding mass on board an electric car.

One generation after the other, the Princes d’Arenberg will be actively implicated in the adventure of automobile.

The current Prince d’ARENBERG has taken part to several car rallies and is mentioned in the 1988 Guinness Record Book for his participation to the Terre de Feu–Alaska rally.

This passion for automobiles concerns also the model cars that you can marvel at in this museum.

Science, technical progress, speed, challenges, collections of prestigious cars are the core of this museum that evidences the commitment of the Prince d’ARENBERG to keep this automobile patrimony.
